Profile Management
Microsoft developed roaming profiles to preserve user settings. Unfortunately, the technical implementation of the roaming profile concept is not ideal and causing frequently problems. Corrupt profiles, slow logon/logoff times and lost settings are just a few examples. Often these problems are visible on Terminal Servers, but are also applicable to fat clients. The Hybrid or Flex Profile concept was developed to preserve user settings without the disadvantages of roaming profiles. Products based on this concept use a local profile as the basis, and then add their own solution to store the user settings.
Profile Management products are the Flex Profiles, Citrix Profile Management or embedded in products like RES Workspace Manager and AppSense Environment Manager.
